No hiring freezes, but a chill blows through investment banks

City headhunters are preparing for a quieter than usual summer of comings and goings, as the UK's decision to leave the EU and an already dour year for dealmaking combine to "put the brakes" on banks' hiring plans.

Richard Hoar, a director at headhunter Goodman Masson, said: "Compared to last year, there's been a big drop in the number of mandates in the market. People are still moving, but there are more candidates and fewer jobs."
