Institutional investment in US venture capital continued to fall sharply in the second half of 2001, according to industry data.

Venture capital firms raised under $19bn (€21bn) in the second half of the year. That represented a 37% fall from the $29.6bn raised in the first half of the year, said VentureOne, the US venture capital research firm.
