UK companies fail to invest enough resources in R&D

The demands of UK capital markets hinder the ability of companies to invest in research and development, according to a government report.

Mike Tubbs, senior industrialist in the business finance and investment unit of the Department of Trade and Industry, said UK companies often put acquisitions and dividends ahead of innovation.
