Investors braced for falling returns

Private equity investors are preparing to accept lower returns than in preceding years, even though buyout firms say they expect to continue targeting the historic 25% annual performance rate.

Investors said returns in many cases would be nearer 14% per year, which would still be relatively better than other asset classes, such as public equities and bonds.
