Investors to favour profitability over ‘moonshot’ ideas, fintech leaders say

Monzo, Starling and Revolut have failed to become profitable despite attracting plenty of customers

Investors will prefer startups that can show profitability rather than “moonshot” ideas over the next 10 years, a poll of fintech leaders has revealed.

A report by Tribe Payments, published on 1 October, showed the majority of fintech firms believe venture capitalists and fund managers will favour hard numbers such as the cost of acquiring customers, rather than betting on startups that have only a small chance of success.
