IPO filings hit five-year high

Applications for US initial public offerings have reached their highest monthly level for nearly six years, with 23 flotations worth $7.1bn (€5.8bn) filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission in September.

It is the largest number since January 2000, when the regulator received filings for 61 IPOs worth $7.6bn, according to Dealogic, the investment banking research provider.
