Ireland attracts Cayman trust transfer

A Cayman unit trust has become the first of its type to move to be domiciled in Ireland as managers look for more transparent jurisdictions

A unit trust that had been set up in the Cayman Islands has become the first fund of its type to be transferred to be domiciled in Ireland, as investment managers continue their flight towards more transparent jurisdictions after the financial crisis.

The unit trust, which is usually offered to retail investors, has been converted into a special fund structure that was created by the Irish regulator to accommodate alternative investments - a Qualifying Investor Fund.
