The IRS is making good on its promise of auditing the rich.
According to an article in the New York Times, the agency increased its audits of taxpayers who earned $1 million to $5 million by 33% last year compared with 2008, new I.R.S. figures show. That means that about one in 12 taxpayers who earned at least $1 million last year were audited, up from about one in 17 in 2008.
