Italian regulator appoints new head

Consob, the Italian regulator, has named Lamberto Cardia, its longest serving member, as successor to its president Luigi Spaventa.

Cardia, who has sat on the Consob board since 1997 and had been widely tipped for the job, will take over the role at the end of June.
