Italy storms back into bond market

Two quickfire transactions eclipsed the previous €6.5bn record

Investment banks have earned more than €30m ($34m) in underwriting fees after the Republic of Italy reaped €14bn from the European bond market through two record deals in a week.

Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, ING, JP Morgan and Unicredit Banca Mobiliare shared around €19m in fees for underwriting a €7bn syndicated Italian government bond, or BTP, last Wednesday.
