James Gorman’s $1m leads Wall Street response to Australian wildfires

The Australian CEO of Morgan Stanley describes the devastation caused by bushfires as ‘deeply upsetting’

James Gorman, chair and chief executive of Morgan Stanley, is donating $1m of his family’s own money to support those fighting the bushfires ravaging Australia’s eastern and southern territories.

In a post on LinkedIn on 9 January, Australian banker Gorman wrote: “Like all Australians, whether at home or abroad, my heart goes out for those affected by the fires. The loss of life, property, livestock, wildlife and beautiful countryside is deeply upsetting.
