Comment: Mergers and acquisitions are on the rise but don't expect big fund management deals

The M&A market is back – at least, that's what any investment banker worth his red braces will tell you. They have, of course, been making the same optimistic prediction each January for the past four years.

However, a 50% increase in the value of global mergers and acquisitions last year and the busiest month of deal-making for nearly five years in December lends some credence to the claim this time round.
