Janus bid talk fuels Amvescap surge

Shares in Anglo-US fund manager Amvescap leapt 4.5% this morning, fuelled by talk that Janus Capital of the US is set to launch a bid.

Dow Jones reports that shares climbed by 17p to 393.25p by 10:45 GMT on the back of speculation that the US-based mutual fund is on the verge of bidding £3.7bn (€5.4bn) or 460p cash per share.
