Jefferies has made a string of hires to its equities research teams in US and Europe, including the appointment of two Macquarie analysts to plug a gap in its coverage of the energy sector, as the New York bank's roster of top stock pickers continues to grow.

The mid-market bank has hired Robert Fagin as co-director of US equity research in New York. Fagin joins from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he was most recently associate director of equity research. At Jefferies he will work alongside Susan Gilbertson, also co-director, to lead the bank's US equity research.
