Jim Rogers: ‘The first time I went to China, I assumed I was going to get shot’

The investment legend on doing business with George Soros, why commodities are a solid asset class and having his first child at 60

“I haven’t seen Soros in more than 40 years. You might as well ask me about my first wife. I’ve seen her more than I have Soros,” Jim Rogers says when asked if he is still in touch with billionaire investor George Soros, who was once his business partner.

Quick-witted and not afraid to speak his mind, Rogers is widely regarded as an investing legend. He achieved notoriety — and a significant fortune — when the Quantum Fund that Soros and he founded in 1973 returned 4,200% over the following decade, compared with just 47% for the S&P 500.
