City jobs drop by a third

Plunging oil prices and volatility in global markets have taken their toll on the City’s job market, Morgan McKinley finds

Plunging oil prices and volatility in global financial markets have taken their toll on the City’s job market, with the number of available positions dropping by a third in December.

Morgan McKinley, a recruitment consultancy which compiled the data, described the drop as 'excessive' even though employment figures typically drop off at year-end due to the Christmas holidays and bonus season.
