Never mind what the UK government wants in negotiations, the European Union has some major needs

Many say they want to know what the UK government wants to do when it comes to negotiating our future relationship with the EU on leaving.

The high level aims of the UK position should be well known by now. As ministers have stated, they wish to implement the UK’s decision to leave the EU. They wish to take back control over borders, law making and money. They want the UK to be free to make her own Trade Agreements with non EU countries. They want the UK to have maximum access to the EU internal market in return for offering similar good access to the UK market to the rest of the EU. All this implies we will leave the internal market as part of leaving the EU. Indeed, it is unlikely membership of their internal market is on offer whilst meeting the other UK requirements.
