Johnson calls for vigilance on virus to avoid third national lockdown in New Year

'If we ease off now we risk losing control of this virus all over again,' the Prime Minister said

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has urged people to comply with the government’s strict new regional coronavirus measures to avoid a third national lockdown in the New Year.

“If we ease off now, we risk losing control of this virus all over again, casting aside our hard-won gains and forcing us back into a New Year national lockdown with all the damage that would mean,” Johnson told a press conference. “The tough measures in our winter plan are the best way to avoid this outcome.”
