Johnson leaves Merrill's leveraged finance group

Chris Johnson, chairman of global leveraged finance at Merrill Lynch in New York, has left the firm amid talk of restructuring and redundancies in the bank's leveraged finance business.

Johnson, a well-known figure in the leveraged finance industry, especially in New York, managed the origination side of the business, overseeing relationships with private equity firms and corporations.
