JP Morgan Chase has hired attorney Dennis Hersch, senior partner and head of mergers and acquisitions at Davis Polk & Wardwell, to become chairman of its global M&A group.

In the newly created role, Hersch will work closely with Rob Kindler, the global head of M&A hired from law firm Cravath Swaine & Moore in 2000. Both will report to Douglas Braunstein, head of investment banking in the Americas.
