JP Morgan asserted its dominance of the US and European loan markets in 2001 taking yet more business from competitors, including closest rival Citigroup, though lending volumes fell heavily overall.
JP Morgan took over from Citigroup as the biggest lender in Europe, Middle East, and Africa (Emea), while extending its lead at the top of the US league table. The bank's US market share now stands at 36% - close to double that of number two and three lenders Bank of America (18.4%) and Citigroup (18.1%), according to preliminary data from Dealogic.
