Kurt Simon, a longtime JP Morgan banker, is being promoted to global chairman of mergers and acquisitions, according to an internal memo obtained by The Wall Street Journal.
Simon, 49-years old, is known as a rainmaker in the rapidly consolidating technology, media and telecommunications space. In May, Simon worked on the largest technology deal on record when he advised Broadcom on its $37 billion sale to Avago Technologies. Earlier this month, he worked with Intel on its $16.7 billion deal to buy Altera. The deal is Intel's largest acquisition to date. He also worked with Dell's special committee on the company's 2013 deal to go private.
