JP Morgan has hired Gordon Gray and Edward Westlake from Salomon Smith Barney, to boost its European oil and gas equity research team.

The pair will report to Peter Houghton, European head of equity research, in London. In the latest European larger companies Reuters Survey, JP Morgan's oil and gas team was ranked eighth. Overall the research group was voted sixth top house.
