Third Point Management, the $1.3bn (€1.1bn) New York-based alternative investment house, has hired Jeffrey Trongone, formerly chief financial officer of JP Morgan's asset management, as its chief operating officer.

Trongone will focus on risk management, compliance, client service and business management.
