JPMorgan’s asset management arm is quickly filling its client list with smaller insurance companies, which continue to struggle to generate the returns needed to remain profitable and meet payout obligations with policyholders.

The US asset manager, which in 2010 established a specialist insurance division to tap into growing demand from insurers, now manages $135bn on behalf of this client segment globally.
