Julius Baer, the Swiss asset manager and private bank, has appointed René Schneider, former head of equity investment management at Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM), to the newly created post of chief investment officer for equities.

Schneider's appointment follows a reorganisation of the asset management unit. At the end of September, Veit Schuhen, overall head of asset management, left following a row with the board over strategy.
