Jupiter Fund Management chief executive Matthew Beesley has defended the fund group’s ability to attract and retain top investment talent, after an analyst said the loss of top manager Ben Whitmore raises questions about its capacity to hold on to key people.

Jupiter announced on 9 January that Whitmore, who oversees almost 20% of the group’s £51bn of assets, will leave later this year to set up his own investment boutique.
