Anglo American adds another investment banker

The FTSE 100 mining giant has appointed a former Blackstone banker in the first significant hire by the company's head of corporate finance – himself a former UBS man

Anglo American has appointed a former Citigroup and Blackstone banker in the first significant hire by the company's new global head of corporate finance – himself a UBS alumnus – as the trend for former bankers to move into corporate roles continues.

Kashif Aslam, who was most recently a vice-president and one of the founding members of the London corporate advisory team at the Blackstone Group, joined Anglo American as a senior member of the corporate finance team earlier this month, according to three sources familiar with the situation. Prior to joining Blackstone, Aslam worked in UK mergers and acquisitions at Citigroup.
