The former boss of fund giant Standard Life Aberdeen Keith Skeoch has questioned the value of special purpose acquisition companies as demand for blank-cheque vehicles continues to wane.

“You’ve got to ask yourself who benefits from these things? What’s the benefit to the investor or customer? I’m very doubtful,” he told Financial News.
