Global buyout firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts has agreed to buy SBB Telemach, a telecommunications company based in the former Yugoslavia, from central Europe-focused Mid Europa Partners in a deal worth approximately €1 billion, according to two people familiar with the matter.

The deal, which was announced Tuesday, marks the US firm's first in the region.
