Kohlberg Kravis Roberts agreed to pay nearly $30 million to settle charges that it improperly shifted more than $17 million in so-called “broken-deal” expenses to its funds, breaching its fiduciary duty.
The settlement includes a $10 million penalty, more than $14 million in disgorgement - $3.26 million was previously refunded to clients - and more than $4.5 million in prejudgement interest.
