KLM denies British Airways merger rumour

Dutch airline KLM dismissed reports of merger talks with British Airways, the UK airline group, saying talks were of a more general nature.

The two airline companies were in merger talks this time last year, but called them off in September, citing various complex commercial, economic, political and regulatory problems. They also discussed a three-way venture with Sabena of Belgium in 1990, and a two-way merger nine years ago.
