The chair of the London Stock Exchange, Donald Brydon, has been knighted in the New Year Honours List for his services to business and charity, joining a select group of City figures to receive gongs this year.

Brydon helped steer the stock exchange through its battle with activist investor the Children’s Investment Fund in 2018 and will step down as chair of the board in May 2019.
