Edmund Lacis, a mutual fund veteran, has been appointed to Pioneer Investments, the US mutual fund group owned by Italy's Unicredito Italiano, to head its Asian expansion.

Lacis has joined Pioneer as regional head for international sales and distribution in Asia. In his new capacity, he will be responsible for growing Pioneer Investments' mutual funds and alternative investments business throughout the region.
