Swathes of south-eastern and eastern England will be plunged into the highest tier of coronavirus restrictions on Boxing Day, health secretary Matt Hancock has said.
Sussex, Oxfordshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Waverley in Surrey, parts of Essex not in tier four and Hampshire, including Portsmouth and Southampton but with the exception of the New Forest, will all be escalated to tier four after midnight on 26 December, Hancock told a press conference on 23 December.
