Layoffs planned for Danske Bank staff as profits top forecasts

Danske Bank posted a smaller-than-expected drop in second-quarter net profit on 17 July as lending activity rebounded and markets normalised, but said it would need to make further job cuts.

“We are seeing the first effects of our focus on bringing down underlying costs, and this remains a priority,” said Chief Executive Chris Vogelzang.
