Lazard has brought in a member of the UK House of Lords as an authoritative figure in its financial advisory business, which drove profit at the independent investment bank in the first quarter.

The US bank has appointed Lord David Prior as a senior adviser, it announced on Monday. He will provide strategic counsel to Lazard and its clients, particularly in the healthcare sector.
