Lazard has won its first big mergers and acquisitions mandate from French electrical company Schneider, and its biggest cross-border French M&A assignment in three years.

Lazard is joint adviser with Merrill Lynch to Schneider on its $5.9bn (€4.6bn) acquisition of US rival American Power Conversion.
