Marcus Agius of Lazard is at the top of a league table of Europe's M&A bankers, ranked according to the number of deals they advised on in the first six months of this year.

The table, compiled by mergermarket.com, the M&A intelligence website, puts Agius, one of Lazard's most senior partners, first with nine deals to his credit, only just ahead of Goldman Sachs's Richard Campbell-Breeden with eight deals.
