A thirty-six year-old Frenchman is Europe's most prolific mergers and acquisitions banker of 2006, after working on €70bn ($92bn) worth of deals.
Mattieu Pigasse, one of the most senior dealmakers at Lazard, beat compatriot Thierry Varene, the global head of mergers and acquisitions at BNP Paribas, to top spot according to rankings compiled by mergermarket, the data provider.
