Lazard has formed a new London-based team focusing on the private equity market with the appointment of Patrick McCloskey as director of its European private placement team.

The Lazard move reflects the growing importance of the private equity market in European corporate finance. McCloskey will head a two-man team acting for corporate clients who want to access private equity or mezzanine finance from private equity funds, wealthy families and insurance groups.
