Lazard: the first year under Jacobs

Kenneth Jacobs, who succeeded legendary dealmaker Bruce Wasserstein a year ago this week, began 2010 with the task of reversing the bank's first annual loss in over a decade

Lazard has marked its first anniversary under the leadership of Kenneth Jacobs, who was appointed to fill the shoes of Bruce Wasserstein following the death of the legendary dealmaker. Financial News takes a look at the business after a year of Jacobs at the helm.

Wasserstein passed away on October 14, 2009 and Jacobs was named as his successor on November 17. Jacobs, who joined Lazard in 1988 and became a partner in 1991, had been deputy chairman and head of North America since 2002.
