Legg Mason assets rise to record levels

Legg Mason, the US-listed fund management group, grew assets under management to a record $311bn (€246bn) for the three months to September 30, up 31% from the same period last year.

The group's asset management divisions, including US fixed-income specialist Western Asset Management, value manager Brandywine and active US equity house Batterymarch, helped push revenues up 24% to a record $568m.
