Last week at London's Guildhall the City University honoured Roy Leighton with an honorary doctorate of science. The award was for numerous contributions to a range of causes.
Leighton's day job is chairman of the European Advisory Board board of Crédit Lyonnais, but the chancellor's address cited his chairmanship of the World Bank International Commodities Task Force, his visiting professorship at Cass, where he lectures on international financial structures and derivatives and, of course, for his substantial contribution in that field as the chairman of the Futures and Options Association. Incidentally, the Task Force, an unusual mix of global agency staff, academics and City of London practitioners, will be holding its AGM at Cass in June.
