Lenders put squeeze on Germany

KPMG survey on leading European firms is pessimistic

Just when German private equity houses thought it could not get any worse, some hard data has emerged confirming the worst market fears.

A recent survey of 25 leading European structured finance companies, prepared by KPMG Corporate Finance's Frankfurt team, paints a gloomy picture for private equity funds in Germany. If the returns of funds of the 2000 vintage were the worst for decades, then the industry has its work cut out to improve them.
