The first time Legal & General Investment Management’s head of retail investments for Emea met another fund manager who looked like him was in 2017. That same year, a report from New Financial found there were only 12 Black fund managers in the then £7.7tn UK investment industry, despite 3.3% of the UK population identifying as Black.
