Liability ‘tinkering' angers accountants

Ineffective UK government insurance reforms come under fire from industry body

The UK government's efforts to reform auditor liability amount to tinkering, according to one of the UK's top accountancy professional bodies.

Allen Blewitt, chief executive of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, said the government is likely to cap the unlimited liabilities faced by auditors, but that more far-reaching reform is necessary.
