Institutional broker Liquidnet has filed a complaint against rival electronic trading firm Investment Technology Group for infringing on a business method patent.

Liquidnet spokesman Richard Franco said the firm filed a complaint against ITG, which has not yet been served with a copy of the complaint. Franco said Liquidnet had met with and spoken to officials at ITG about licensing the technology that is being infringed upon.
