US private equity house TPG Capital has appointed the chairman of Lloyds TSB as its first dedicated adviser in the UK to help spot buyout opportunities after a quiet year in the country's market.

Sir Victor Blank becomes the firm's senior adviser to work on identifying potential target companies in the UK. He joins TPG's other country heads in Europe including Bernard Attali in France, Davide Croff in Italy, Alfonso Cortina in Spain and Ludolf von Wartenberg in Germany.
