Lloyds Banking Group has pulled £109bn managed on its behalf by Standard Life Aberdeen, having decided that the investment and insurance giant is now a "material competitor".

The money belongs to Lloyds' wealth management arm and its life insurance and pensions business Scottish Widows and has been managed for many years by Aberdeen Asset Management.
